Governor Biographies

Dr Salim Natha (Chair)

Dr Salim Natha is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, providing comprehensive care for patients with age-related macular degeneration and serious diseases that could potentially lead to blindness. He has had several publications/abstracts included in medical literature and has presented many papers at scientific meetings. He is a peer reviewer for the English National Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Programme.

A resident of Bolton, Dr Natha is a passionate advocate of Eden Boys’ School, Bolton and believes the school will play an instrumental role in helping to reverse the cycle of deprivation and inequality in some of the poorest areas of Bolton. Dr Natha previously chaired the Governing Body of a local secondary school in Bolton.

Mohammad Adam

Muhammad is a successful businessman and highly regarded community leader in Bolton. He serves on several strategic boards and works tirelessly for community cohesion, striving to create partnerships between communities of all faiths and backgrounds. He chaired Bolton Council of Mosques for several years and is a Governor at another local secondary school, Bolton Muslim Girls’ School.

Muhammad has played a pivotal role in campaigning for the school and has been involved in community-driven dialogue with the local authority.  He believes the school will be the beginning of a new chapter for Bolton.  In his spare time, he supports a range of charities and community associations.

Ebrahim Adia

Ebrahim has worked at the University of Central Lancashire since 1997. During this period, he has acted as the course leader for a range of programmes including the BA (Hons) Education and Professional Studies, the Cert Ed/PGCE (post-compulsory) and the MA Education Plus.  Ebrahim is Chair of the University Degree Attainment Working Group.  In this capacity, he has written a report on ‘Improving Degree Attainment at UCLAN,’ significantly impacting on the strategic direction of the University.

As a UCLAN Foundation Trustee, he is a member of the Nominations Committee and is responsible for recruiting and appointing UCLAN Board members. Ebrahim’s main research interest is in the area of community cohesion in schools.

Ebrahim was appointed to the Commission on Integration and Cohesion, established by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, in August 2006. Their report, entitled ‘Our Shared Futures,’ continues to influence public policy in Britain.  In addition to this, Ebrahim is a Councillor in Bolton and a Cabinet Member for Human Resources and Cohesion, as well as a former Vice-Chair of NHS Bolton.

Imtiaz Ahmed

Imtiaz is a newly-elected Parent Governor with a background in Software Development, which he hopes he can use to provide an insight into the school’s ICT strategy. He has worked in the IT industry for many years and has led technical teams on software projects, strategic review and providing guidance to improve processes. As a Parent Governor, he wants to provide the school and staff with support so that they can help the children thrive and realise their true potential in an environment which is academically challenging and promotes respect and community cohesion.

Ismail Amla

As Executive Vice President for FIS & Capco NA CEO, Ismail leads a firm which provides product and consulting services to global financial institutions. He has been instrumental in ensuring that his team members develop a reputation as trusted partners and he has built an internal culture centered on transparency, participation and openness.

Prior to joining Capco, Ismail was Managing Director at Accenture, where he was responsible for outsourcing business in Austria, Switzerland and Germany. He was also the delivery lead across all service lines for Accenture’s largest global client in financial services and, for the last five years, he has been a member of the Accenture UK leadership team, leading a range of Human Capital initiatives. Before joining Accenture, Ismail was a Vice-President and UK Board member of CSC, where he led the financial services business in the UK and Ireland.

Ismail has lived in Bolton for most of his life and is passionate about contributing to the local community. He is also a visiting fellow at Manchester Business School and will help the school to develop partnerships with universities and the business world.

Robert Berry

Robert has extensive experience of working in the educational sector in roles including Head of Department and Vice Principal. He has also worked on a self-employed basis as an educational consultant and is currently employed as a School Performance and Standards officer for a local authority, leading on secondary provision. He has a passion for educational excellence and collaborative working with parents, to enable each child to reach their full potential.

Mohsin Bhadat

Mohsin is a Senior Consultant within Governance and Compliance at Deloitte. He is an ACCA member and highly experienced individual with over seven years of internal audit, controls, advisory and risk experience within Central Government, Financial Services, Education, Charities and Sports sectors within the UK and internationally.

Prior to joining Deloitte, Mohsin worked as a Depositary Assistant Manager at a fund administration and accountancy firm responsible for managing and ensuring compliance with the new EU Directive relating to alternative investment funds. Mohsin has also worked as a Senior Internal Auditor within another professional service firm, where he has audited many institutions within the Education sector.

Shabir Fazal (Principal)

Shabir has been appointed as the School Principal. Prior to this, he was Assistant Principal of Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School and was the lead for Child Protection.
