Caring pupils help the vulnerable in Bolton with winter gift project

Kind-hearted pupils and staff at Eden Boys’ School, Bolton are working to bring comfort to Bolton’s vulnerable population as part of a special campaign of festive giving.

During a year which has brought hardship and challenge to many in Bolton, pupils at the school were determined to help make a difference through their annual Festive Winter Gift campaign.

Pupils and staff worked hard to raise funds, offer gestures of friendship and helped to offer support to people who were facing hardship during the long winter months.

As part of their activities, pupils joined with other Star Academies schools to take part in ‘Food for All Week’. From 7th to 13th December, all 29 schools across the Star Academies multi-academy trust aimed to distribute thousands of food parcels and meals to those experiencing food poverty.

The pupils at Eden Boys’ School, Bolton contributed by providing 616 warm meals to those in need in the community. The number ‘616’ represents one hot meal for every pupil in the school. The school raised more than £1,500 in donations to help fund the project.

Pupils also raised funds to provide gifts for staff and residents at local care home, Astley Grange, and offered support to Bolton Hospice and festive gifts for families and children living in refuge through the charity Fortalice.

Sue Gill-Daintith, Principal at Eden Boys’ School, Bolton, said: “During this year’s Festive Winter Gift campaign our pupils have worked with incredible drive to help Bolton’s vulnerable population.

“We are incredible grateful for the support of our parents and whole school community who have all helped to demonstrate the power of giving during times of difficulty.

“This has been an ambitious project, but hopefully one that can make a real difference to the lives of many during this difficult festive period.”
